  Sunrise Beach is located on the west side of the Lake of the Ozarks area, but the entire 65079 area code includes much of the central Lake region, including Shawnee Bend and Oak bend, 2 major peninsulas jutting into the Main Channel, and includes the expansive west and north side of the main channel from MM9 through MM 40. Within these areas are a wide range of attractions, and properties that range from quiet and cozy, to activity centric, including businesses, single family homes, condominiums, and natural expanses. Sunrise Beach is just North of Camdenton on route 5, and the intersection of TT/MM, and highway 5 provides easy access through Shawnee bend to the Sunrise Toll Bridge leading to Lake Ozark , Osage Beach, the Strip, outlet malls, and any other Lake facilities one would desire.

  The town of Sunrise Beach is smaller than other cities in the Lake area, but still provides all the grocery shopping, banking, library and schools that make living in Sunrise beach as convenient as possible. With the town less than a mile from the main channel, to the east and west, it's not surprising the amount of marine storage, repair, and retail businesses that exist at convenient locations, as well as the expected hardware and automotive centers, athletic clubs, and dining experiences that make visiting or living in this area an enjoyable experience. Local favorite dining options in town include Westside Pub, Sunrise Donuts, and Shrimp Daddy's, located on Sunset Blvd, which is route 5 is through Sunrise beach. Amidst the rolling hills and undeveloped woodlands are an abundance of coves and hollows, granting an ample variety of quiet waters for fishing, paddling and other relaxing endeavors, as well as residential and business properties that provide easy access to the main channel and all the amenities the Lakefront has to offer.

  Following the 5 south is the community of Hurricane Deck, near the bridge of the same name, where The Tavern at Trail's End and the Branding Iron restaurants can be reached by car, as well as more traditional chains, and local businesses of all sorts. Hurricane Deck is the home of the infamous Captain Ron's Bar and Grill, a waterfront entertainment complex including a protected beach, 4 tiki bars, a variety of boat rentals options, and family friendly activities of all sort. Captain Ron's is also the host of Aquapalooza, and the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, an annual, week long event at the end of August culminating in some of the fastest boats on the planet attempting to set powerboat speed records in the main channel from MM34-31, many of which are built in the Lakes area.

The east section of Sunrise beach is the Shawnee Bend area, surrounded by the main channel from MM10-24, and stretches over 5 miles to the Sunrise Bridge on route MM. Even deeper coves cover the northside of the peninsula, and with a central location along the main channel, the Lakefront is bejeweled with marine activities, dining and entertainment, as well as modern residences, private communities, and even a few private islands. In addition to the private docks that are almost inherent in every lakefront property, there is also a wide range of marinas, boat rental and supply services catering to practically any water related activity you could desire. The Shawnee Bend Public Access also provides alternative Lake access around MM11, with a public boat ramp on over 6 acres with birdwatching, fishing, public facilities, and a multipurpose dock, which are all open 4 am to 10 pm most days.

  The peninsula widens at the Bend, and with spectacular views and easy access to Lake Ozark and Osage Beach just across the main channel, is punctuated by condominiums, villages, and full service communities, such as The Villages at Shawnee Bend, including the infamous billionaires cove, as well as single family residences both on the main channel, and tucked away in the hollows. Porto Cima is another example, with a full 18 hole, Jack Nicklaus "Signature" Golf Course, a 17,000 foot clubhouse, and it's own Yacht Club among the many features they offer. Seven holes of the course play beside or over the lake, and most of the residences, featuring single family homes, custom homes and townhomes, are lakefront or along the fairways, and in some cases providing views of both. A variety of Sports, Yacht Club, and Corporate memberships are available, and a Full Golf Membership includes special privileges at the Lodge of Four seasons just across the channel, with another 2 full golf courses, as well as the world renowned Spa Shiki and HK's Restaurant.

Although Sunrise Beach was not named for any specific location on the Lake, the uniquely deep and narrow coves in this area of the Lake lend themselves to these formations, providing calmer waters that lend themselves to swimming, and many local waterfront businesses have created protected swimming areas and sandy beaches. Captain Ron's, mentioned above, in one such establishment, and at Mm10, deep in Lynch Hollow, is Franky and Louie's Beachfront Bar and Grill, and as the name suggest, highlights their protected beach area and family friendly environment, popular with visitors and residents alike. In addition to the familiar waterfront restaurant, bar and courtesy docks, they also have a full service gas dock, paddle boat, kayak and SUP rentals, as well as beach sports and a seasonal bounce house, making this a perfect location to spent the day with the family on a regular basis. Farther down the main channel, at MM26, in Crabtree Cove is Papa Chubby's Food and Booze, which also features a protected beach area, boat rentals and live entertainment, in addition to RV hookups, cabins, slip rentals, and nature trails, all surrounded by the beautiful bluffs, lookouts and coves the Lake area is known for.

  The prominently located Paradise Tropical Restaurant and Bar, just at the bend at MM 24, is a local favorite, with a friendly bar and breakfast, lunch and dinner options, all amidst multiple decks showcasing astonishing views of the Lake in two directions, spanning almost ten miles. With a central location on the Lake, and a variety of different amenities, activities, locations, and events, Sunrise Beach provides access to all the possibilities the Lake area has to offer.
