Similar to Gravois Mills on the West side , Rocky Mount lies on the East side of the Gravois Arm, and includes properties on the main channel from MMs4-6, all along the coves and hollows of the Gravois Arm, and across to route W. Founded in 1840, Rocky Mount was originally in Miller county, on Route Y, and was named for a drainage divide near the original town site, with a post office that operated from 1839-1919. In 1919, the town was moved to Miller County, just a few miles down route Y, but the whole area is generally known as Rocky Mount, and some generational residents still remember the old town site, where there is a sign to mark the site, and several historical buildings.
Rocky Mount is almost more laid back than Gravois mills, and the 18 miles of shoreline are dotted with relaxing and affordable lakefront properties. Following the Y north for 5 miles brings you to a larger town of Eldon for easy shopping and errands away from the lake area, and 5 miles south on the W is the Bagnell Dam and all the lake features of a busier region. Rocky Mount still has the traditional amenities, as well as marinas, marine maintenance and parts supply and storage, for all your boating needs. Several fishing guides and charters also take advantage of the quieter area to provide or assist in all your fishing needs, and Coffman Public access provides a boat ramp and pier, as well as 8 acres of birdwatching, fishing, parking, and other facilities.
Rocky Mount also provides opportunity for adventure as well, with Lake Ozark and the Village of Four Seasons just across the main channel, and all the amenities they offer. The modest town areas also provides shopping and dining to the region, and the Traffic Jam Grub and Pub has regular specials and live music, while Big Ry's Pizzeria features the 30 inch pizza, a favorite for parties and gatherings. At MM4.5 of the Gravois Arm is the Pirate themed Jolly Rogers Grub and Grog, starring the Kraken for boat up breakfast, with breakfast buffet on Mondays, and brunches on weekends and holidays during the summer. Combined with regular live music, charters, and treasure hunting adventures, as well as philanthropic special events, the Jolly Rogers provides the traditional Lake experience, in a relaxed and picturesque setting, rounding out the Rocky Mount amenities, and providing any opportunity that may be desired as a place to live, visit, or invest.
